Singer-songwriter Brooke Robertson depicts hope and healing in her latest release, ā€œTaking My Voice Back.ā€ The Louisiana native co-wrote all 11 songs on the CD, which features anthems and ballads with a soft pop sound served up with a slice of country. The title cut expounds on the first time she shared the story of her childhood sexual abuse. ā€œAs I was writing the song, I felt in my heart that I needed to contact my abuser,ā€ Robertson said in a release. ā€œI was able to tell that person I forgave them and that God forgives and loves them, too.ā€ Other poignant songs include the first track, ā€œJust Be You,ā€ a bouncy song that encourages folks to live authentic lives, and the closing song, ā€œSee You There,ā€ a tribute to Robertsonā€™s grandmother. ā€œI hope this album will help others feel empowered and encouraged to let hurt go, extend forgiveness and fully embrace who God created them to be,ā€ Robertson said.
