Louisiana-born singer-songwriter Lauren Daigle offers her first full-length album in three years, but in a two-phase format. She released 10 songs in May 2023 and will present 13 more later in the year. The 10 selections feature blues, Cajun, and folk sounds as Daigleā€™s powerful, soulful voice anchors the music. ā€œI love celebrating life, and that was really important to show and express in this record,ā€ she told Variety magazine. The champ of the album is the first single, ā€œThank God I Do.ā€ It talks about Daigleā€™s close relationship with the Lord: ā€œI donā€™t know who Iā€™d be if I didnā€™t know you; Iā€™d probably fall off the edge; I donā€™t know where Iā€™d go if you ever let go; So keep me in your hands.ā€ Other songs include ā€œWaiting,ā€ which notes a woman waiting to meet her relationship partner, and ā€œKaleidoscope Jesus,ā€ a tune about Jesus showing up in unimaginable places. The artwork on the album is colorful and animated. This self-titled record is a positive, upbeat effort from an artist at the top of her game. (Atlantic Records/Centricity Music)
