The weekend kicked off July 23 with an ice cream social. A special Sunday worship service included a message from Firstā€™s current pastor, Rev. Jim Wiersum, who preached about Godā€™s faithfulness from Lamentations 3:22-24.

Following the service, church members and friends gathered for a luncheon and a time of fellowship that included reminiscing and sharing.

ā€œAs I have said on occasion, the churchā€™s 100th anniversary is not just a celebration of what God has done, but a bold act of faith towards what God will do in the future. . . . I believe God has given us the task of being a Reformed witness in the midst of our community,ā€ said Wiersum.

Church members received a centennial edition of their church newsletter, which included a brief history of the church and notes from former pastors.
