According to Sir Francis Bacon, “There is no excellent beauty that hath not some strangeness in the proportion.” And according to young up-and-coming pianist , the beauty of Bach’s music comes not from its mathematical precision but from the way in which the composer plays with forms and patterns. This CD showcases Dinnerstein playing two of Bach’s keyboard concerti, accompanied by the Kammerorchester Staatskapelle Berlin. But her talent shines in the delicate solo work, particularly the transcriptions of three hymn chorals, including “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” (Sony Classical)
