As we edge closer to an Advent season of remembering God’s goodness and grace to us, we often get sidetracked by consumerism and the greed it can breed. Sometimes music can inspire us to remember all that we are grateful for. There are myriad hymns that express that thankfulness. But if you are looking to fill out your playlist, here are some suggestions from a few of our Banner reviewers who were kind enough to name some other songs that, for one reason or another, inspire them to gratitude. What music makes your soul sing?

  1. performed by the Irish worship band Rend Collective Experiment.
  2. performed by Scottish folk singer Stuart Murdoch.
  3. by singer/songwriter Jennifer Knapp.
  4. by singer/songwriter Josh Garrels.
  5. by bluegrass fiddler Sara Watkins.
  6. by gospel artist Kirk Franklin.
  7. by modern hymn composers Keith and Kristyn Getty.
  8. by gospel great Andrae Crouch.
