In , artist Janet McKenzieā€™s paintings of the Stations of the Crossā€”ā€œstopping points along the route from Jesusā€™ condemnation in the house of Pilate to the finding of the empty tombā€ā€”are accompanied by Joan Chittisterā€™s spiritual reflections.

Written from a Catholic perspective, those reflections address four aspects of each station: first, Jesusā€™ human experience and how we similarly experience pain, rejection, and sorrow, though not to the same degree he did; second, the call that each scene presents us; third, the model that Jesus provided for us as he encountered suffering; fourth, how we can experience ā€œthe risingsā€ā€”ā€œthe conviction that even the daily deaths of life can lead us to the stuff of spiritual resurrection time after time on our way to the fullness of life.ā€

Christians will find much in this book to reflect on during Lent and at other times. (Orbis Books)
